When Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort closes for the season (end of March), the event is celebrated with music, food, drink and fun. I have to admit that I didn’t go to ski, but as a tourist I was curious to see the party :)
This is a picture of the Welcome Las Vegas sign at Mt. Charleston Ski and Snowboard Resort Las Vegas at National Recreation Area:
It may sound a little strange, because probably not too many people would associate the gambling city with skiing and winter sports. Yet, Mount Charleston is a great place for outdoor activities and sport activities all year round and it’s only at about 45 min, from downtown (6725 Lee Canyon Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89124). The summer season BTW, will start on the Memorial Weekend, May 22, 2015.

Entrance to Mt. Charleston Ski and Snowboard Resort Las Vegas at National Recreation Area:
It was a beautiful day with temperatures in the 80°s, in despite of the high altitude: the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area where the ski resort is situated has an elevation of about 8.000feet
Seeing the famous Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign present even here, made me emotional. Yep, this is a hidden gem among the so many Vegas attractions, and totally family safe too.
End of Las Vegas Ski Season
March was quite hot this year in Las Vegas end not too much snow was left, but people of all ages were still having fun. I think the resort should have made an effort to continue making snow on the ski slopes for a few more weeks… Don’t worry, it will start again next winter :)
There are three main slopes for different degrees of skills and you can also rent all the equipment right there.
But as fun as the snow was, the last day party was even funnier and more attractive ; so let’s forget about the snowboards for the now :)
The Closing Party
The main attraction was of course the Mexican party on the terrace bar. It was sponsored by “Dos Equis” Mexican beer. Obviously, the band which BTW, was very good, played some Mexican songs too.
You could see lots of colors, costumes and people having a great time.
See you around at Ski and Snowboard Resort Las Vegas this summer! The outdoor activities in Las Vegas don’t stop here :)
